Claudette Colvin was born on September 5, 1939, in King Hill, Montgomery, Alabama. Claudette was adopted by C.P. Colvin and Marry Anne Colvin. Marry Anne Colvin was a maid meanwhile C.P. Colvin mowed lawns. She grew up in one of Montgomery's poorer neighborhoods, but studied very hard in school. She attended Booker T. Washington High School and got pregnant at an early age(she had a son named Raymond). She mostly earned As in her classes, and even dreamed to be president one day. She was bright, intelligent, and curious. People knew she had a rebellious nature at a young age.
