Claudette Colvin is a pioneer of the African American Civil Rights Movement. On March 2, 1955, she was the first person to get arrested, for going against bus segregation in Montgomery, Alabama. She stood up for her rights as an African American and refused to give up her seat in the bus to a white women. Colvin violated several segregation laws, therefore, she was arrested for several charges. Due to her humbleness of not telling people about her heroic actions, Claudette Colvin is less known around the world compared to figures like Rosa Parks, and we'd like to spread awareness of her heroism towards the movement against discrimination.
